Avocado Vs Coconut Massage Oil

Why We Use 100% Pure Avocado Oil For Massage

Our guests are always complimenting how smooth and nourishing our massage oil feels—and they often ask what it is. At Bodylogic Spa, we believe that what goes on your skin should be as thoughtfully chosen as what goes in your body. That’s why we use 100% pure avocado oil for our massages.

When we (Melanie and Ben) first bought Healing Oasis (now Bodylogic Spa), we inherited a coconut-oil blend that most spas use and looked good on paper—but one of our therapists had chronic clogged pores and rough, irritated forearms from repeated use. That confirmed what Melanie already knew from years in her own practice: avocado oil simply performs better. Once we made the switch, the issue vanished, and everyone—therapists and guests alike—noticed the difference. That experience made it clear: the right oil doesn’t just make a massage feel great—it protects the people giving them, too.

Science backs it up. Avocado oil is rich in monounsaturated fats, vitamins A, D, and E, plus antioxidants and lecithin that deeply moisturize and support healthy skin barrier function. It absorbs smoothly without leaving a greasy film and is low on the comedogenic scale, meaning it’s far less likely to clog pores. Coconut oil, on the other hand—while often marketed as “natural”—has a high comedogenic rating (about 4 out of 5) meaning it tends to clog pores, and can trap heat and bacteria under the skin—great for a piña colada, not for daily massage work.

At Bodylogic, we curate every product with care. We test, research, and choose what’s best for both guest and therapist. So when your skin feels especially soft after a Bodylogic massage, that’s the avocado working—pure, simple, and smart.
